The finished Squiggles At Night

Hi!!! It has been a while since I have posted and I am so happy to say that "Squiggles At Night" is finished. I love this quilt and hope you will too. It was so fun to make and is just happy. :-) Here are a few pictures of the free motion quilting in the alternate blocks. This one has a flower free motioned in the center and the one below (this is so funny) is the exact same block but with my finger over the flash! I love goofing like that with pictures.
This is one that has a grid and the next one has a sun quilting into it. Now I won't bore you with all 20 alternate block designs but you get the idea. Each block is different in the fabrics and the quilt design.
If you click on the photo above you will see the white chalk lines that I drew to create this grid quilting. I will spritz these out now that I have photographed the technique.

The binding is a multi color batik which really went well with all of the other colors. If you would like to see more of the alternate blocks just let me know and I will post some more. Now.....on to what not to do when you quilt your quilt...I bet you all have never seen this wonderful technique!!! Fancy, isn't it. I call this the "Didn't get the thread through the tension discs" technique. I know, I know, it is something every quilter strives to accomplish but there is a nack to doing this. There are a few ways of accomplishing this....let me share.

1. Thread your machine in a really big hurry with the presser foot down, not making sure the thread is through the tension discs completely.

2. Leave your presser foot up when you try to sew.

3. Bump your tension gauge so it is on a very low number or better yet on zero.

4. Have your knee resting against the knee lever that lifts your presser foot.

Yep, you too can accomplish this technique!!

Seriously, I do like to share my goofs with others because then you don't think you are the only one with this talent and you learn from my mistakes what not to do.

Hope you have enjoyed this mini tutorial of what not to do's. Comments always welcome!!

Peace!!
